This could have been worse

This book is not well written; it needs a lot of editing. When it says "common sense police supervision," it means it. If your friends think you are a moron and have no common sense, this book is a must read. However, if you have any sense of the reality that surrounds you, don't bother.

Anyone who has studied for the police supervision exams is forced to read the "required texts" Iannone, Swanson or Miller, Much of the information tends to be dated even though they keep issuing new editions. I found that Common Sense Police Supervision provided a good amount of new information that I used when I first became a supervisor.

Semi-Classic Lawrence Sanders

This book is one of Sanders' better ones. It takes place in South Florida (where Sanders' lived) with a host of interesting characters. It has something for everyone: Sex, drugs, murder and everything else except rock n roll. This book was published in 1982 with some very insightful observations about the society in which we live in and it still rings true today.

I first read this book by sanders in the eighties and was instantly hooked! He's a very sophisticated writer. Being from Florida myself I love the tales sander weaves from the sun drenched coast and the intrigue sex suspense and magnificent diatribe he effortlessly spews upon page after page is like one wave after another crashing down again and again until your senses are sated your eyes washed clean and your whole body totally encapsulated by this master storyteller! Bravo Mr. Lawrence sanders! The next beer is on me.

To Remember...

I first read this book about 10 years ago and, to this very day, when I am asked what book I would recommend as a suspenseful and dramatic read, The Case of Lucy Bending is the first thought to materialize on my lips. In my opinion, along with Lawrence Sanders' "The Third Deadly Sin", it is one of the most thrilling and captivating books I've ever read - and I've read many! It touches on situations that society would like to ignore or brush under a rug - even in this day - but are undeniably happening.
The Case of Lucy Bending is not for the faint of heart. It is a brazen tale of a little girl who is dealing with issues no young person should be exposed to. It is not a 'dark' read by any means; there are many comical moments throughout the book and heartfelt ones as well. It will leave a definite impression with you. One you will never forget.

This was a great textbook that chronicled the terrorist movement in the United States. It addresses both Right-Wing extremists and Left-Wing extremists. The information is well researched, and well documented. I found this book to be one of the most informative book regarding Domestic Terrorism.
