For Anatomic Pathology Laboratories this book is the gold standard for communicating staging information. I would strongly urge Oncologists and Doctors treating oncology patients to reference this book for staging information, and to judge completeness of Pathology reports.
It should be noted that the information is direct and to the point, without much supporting text. This should be considered as an up to date reference on the current thinking in terms of what is important in determining stage and prognosis. It is not an educational text that carefully or clearly defines the terms used by Doctors and Oncologists.

Written for biomedical students, this book is an excellent, well written textbook, covering general topics in oncology (epidemiology, pathology, surgery, radiation) and specific types of cancer. Some parts are too clinical for the general public, but if you are interested in the subject, this book is clear and useful. I highly recommend it to graduate students and public libraries.

The GFA details the lateral face by means of eight angles and indices with special attention given to the nose and ear. With 45 illustrations and two tables in this clear and comprehensive text, this book leaves little to the imagination and is truly a unique treatise and source of information.

This is a book about facial surface landmarks only and all images are drawn in the hyper-abstract method you see on the cover. The book does not talk about any surface anatomy of the face in relation to the skull, only in relation to one another. Almost all images are frontal.

Truly Amazing Book

Robert M. George's, Facial Geometry, is an incredible text. I was drawn to this text because of my interest in Forensic Facial Reconstruction. The material covered is of tremendous value to those interested in the Forensic applications. This book should be on the selves of every Forensic Artist in the field. The detail description of the relationships between the various planes and points of the human face will be critical to the accuracy of the reconstructions. Dr. George goes beyond the nuts and bolts of pure data and addresses many of the artistic cannons of the traditional art world.
I believe this book would appeal to Artist of all types. Anyone interested in the human face and the relationships of its various planes, points and features will find this book of extraordinary value. This is a must book for all those who wish to understand the human face.

Maybe you wouldn't take this book to the beach, but ...

I like this little (82 page) spiral-bound book and continue to study it, most recently on a long airplane trip. It is not necessarily designed for a casual user who is looking to draw faces, as it is a serious academic work that stresses medical nomenclature and facial indices and proportions documented in other research. This nomenclature is important to be able to communicate concepts to other forensic artists or anatomists. My most important takeaway is what any good portrait artist knows - likenesses are determined by careful observation, measurement, proportions to other features, and attention to angles. To help the forensic artist, the Dr. Robert George, the author, presents a "golden template" of a face with instructions so the forensic artist can determine how an individual's features differ from this example. I especially appreciate the list of references. So, don't be deceived by the appearance of the binding or by the simplified illustrations - this is a serious work that deserves the time it takes to digest it. (I just wish I could have found a copy somewhere at a reduced price!)
